Acupuncture Boosts Brain’s Ability to Regulate Pain

Researchers at the University of Michigan Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center found that acupuncture alters the way the brain processes pain.
Using brain imaging, UM researchers found that acupuncture increased the binding availability of mu-opoid receptors (MOR) in regions of the brain that process and dampen pain signals.
The University of Michigan study is the first to provide evidence that acupuncture affects the brain’s long-term ability to regulate pain. The full study will be published in the September issue of Journal of NeuroImage.
Researchers Find Chinese Medicine Eases Eczema
March 18th, 2009 Posted in General Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine | No Comments »Researchers at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City reported that a combination of Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture greatly reduced the severity of symptoms in eczema patients in a recent study.
All but one patient saw at least a 60% improvement in eczema severity after a little more than three months of treatment. Additionally, all but one experienced a 50% increase in a quality of life after about two and a half months of treatment.

Colorectal Cancer and Ginseng

According to the study, steamed extracts of ginseng halted cancer cell growth by as much as 99 percent.
